On September 20, 2023 the much-awaited inauguration of the UPCM Clinical Simulation Laboratory took place at the 7th floor of the Henry Sy Hall, Medical Sciences Building with Senator Pilar Juliana “Pia” Cayetano as guest of honor.

The afternoon started with the Invocation, National Anthem and College Hymn by the UP Medicine choir. This was followed by a video message from the Chancellor of UP Manila, Dr. Carmencita Padilla. The Dean of the UP College of Medicine Dr. Charlotte Chiong delivered her message and expressed her appreciation to the donors who made the project possible such as the office of Senator Cayetano (which raised 246M with 100M already released for operations, personnel services and equipment outlay) the UP Medical Alumni Society and the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity and Sorority. Dr. Maria Julieta Germar the Director of the Clinical Simulation Laboratory then relayed the story of how the project started, evolved and finally came into fruition.

The Guest of Honor, Senator Pia Cayetano recounted her history of partnering with PGH for specific projects, and how as the Chair of the Senate Sustainable Development Goals, Innovations and Futures Thinking Committee and the Senate Ways and Means Committee she is involved in securing funds for worthy technological projects on a national scale such as the UPCM Clinical Simulation Lab.

Certificates of Appreciation and tokens of gratitude were then awarded to Senator Cayetano as well as representatives of the UPMAS and the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity and Sorority for their contributions to the project. The closing remarks were then delivered by Dr. Jose Joven Cruz, UPCM Associate Dean for Planning and Development.

Guests then proceeded to the Clinical Simulation Laboratory on the 6th floor for the ribbon cutting by Dr. Ma.Julieta Germar (Director, Clinical Simulation Laboratory), Dr. Lilibeth Genuino (UPMAS Executive Director and Mu Sigma Phi Project Coordinator), Dr. Arlene Samaniego (Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance UP Manila), Senator Pia Cayetano, and UPCM Dean Dr. Charlotte Chiong. This was followed by the Blessing of the facility by the PGH Chaplain and a subsequent tour of the facility.
